Blogs have revolutionized many aspects of the online world, including how marketers interact with their customers. To bring your own business blog to the next level, you may wish to embed video on it.

Video is becoming increasingly in demand and popular online, as the success of YouTube and similar sites will attest. You are aware of the impact that video can have, so why aren’t you taking advantage of this revolution?

Video can make your blog more entertaining, or it can provide instructional clips about using your products and brief presentations about what you have to offer.

Remember, however, that video blogs are not the same thing as online commercials, and the two should not be confused with one another. The purpose of video blogs is not that of being infomercials or shameless plugs.

When you incorporate video into your blog, concentrate on providing information of value, albeit in a different form than standard text. For example, hosting a webinar could be a valuable addition to many blogs.

This doesn’t mean, of course, that your video blog should be dull and uninteresting. On the contrary, the more exciting and entertaining you can make it, the more likely it is to generate a buzz.

Getting videos onto your blog is easier than you may think. You needn’t have video equipment that costs thousands of dollars. The FaceTime HD camera built into your Mac, iPhone or iPad is actually more sophisticated than the video equipment used by professionals of years past.

One important aspect of video to keep in mind if you are embedding it in your blog, however, is that it uses much more bandwidth than text. Before you embed video, be sure to check with your hosting company to ensure that there is sufficient bandwidth.

As the popularity of video has increased, however, video hosting providers have made it easier for users to add video to their blogs. Popular video sharing sites such as YouTube can generate code for you that you can paste directly into your blog post. This will link the video from YouTube, which will host the video for you.

The most popular blog backend providers such as WordPress and TypePad provide an HTML and WYSIWYG tab for editing posts. This is similar to the functionality of web editors such as that found in Adobe Dreamweaver. You simply paste the video embed code directly into your post’s HTML code.

Incorporating videos into your blog can increase your visitor retention rate and reduce its bounce rate, especially if the video is highly targeted to the subject of the blog post.

Why not start adding video to your blog today?
